- Day 3: Sightseeing in Lisbon
Let’s explore Lisbon with a local, shall we? This colorful Portuguese capital is home to classic European charm, breathtaking vistas, and a comfy coastal climate. No wonder it’s the oldest city in Western Europe—who wouldn’t settle down here?
Today's highlights:
- Traverse the labyrinth of Alfama, the oldest district of Lisbon.
- Ride on the iconic yellow trolley that was imported from the U.S. in 1901.
- Day 4: Free day + optional Evora & Monsaraz day trip
Today, you can choose your own adventure—as long as that adventure includes eating pastel de nata. Get out of the city a bit, or bop around Lisbon with some of your new travel pals. In the evening, enjoy an included dinner with the group.
Free time suggestions
Belem Tower: Now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Belem Tower was built in the 16th century to fortify Lisbon and symbolize Portugal’s maritime power.
Jerónimos Monastery: Architecture buffs, stand up. Built in the early 1500s to honor Vasco de Gama, the site is now home to the Maritime and National Archaeology museums.
Evora & Monsaraz day trip (extra cost)
Tour Evora, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, then head to medieval Monsaraz for wine tasting.

Mercado da Ribeira: You know Time Out Market in the States? This is that. The biggest food market in the city is the best spot to indulge in local food and drink.
National Tile Museum: It’s hard to miss the colorful tiles that adorn Lisbon. Here, you’ll explore a collection of azulejo, traditional Iberian tilework.
