Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Flight
Board your overnight flight to Athens, the cradle of Western Civilization and one of the oldest cities in the world. Pro tip: if you’re looking to earn some bonus points with the locals upon arrival, make sure you refer to Greece by its real name: Hellas.
Day 2: Arrive in Athens + Welcome Dinner
Welcome to Athens! At least 5,000 years old, this ancient city is the birthplace of democracy, Greek mythology, and just about every recipe you can make with feta cheese. Athens hums with the energy of its past but make no mistake: this city is STILL alive and evolving, and it’s the first stop on your journey through the Greek Islands.
In the evening, enjoy your Welcome Dinner! Hosted by your Tour Director, this kickoff dinner is all about meeting your fellow travelers, swapping stories, and easing into the rest of the trip ahead.
- Meet an EF representative and fellow travelers as they arrive at the airport.
- Transfer to your hotel to check in and check out your room.
- Get acquainted with Athens on a brief walk around the city with your Tour Director and keep an eye out for vibrant street art that turns the city into an open-air gallery full of colorful and creative surprises.
- Enjoy a Welcome Dinner with fellow travelers at an authentic local spot.
Day 3: Sightseeing tour of Athens + optional food tour & lunch + night out with a local
Get ready to explore one of the world’s most iconic ancient sites — the Acropolis! This hilltop citadel has been a symbol of Athens for over 2,500 years and is packed with incredible history and jaw-dropping architecture. After a morning sightseeing, the rest of the day is yours to soak up the vibrant city life of Athens at your own pace or sign up for an optional food tour that will introduce you to the delicious flavors of Greek cuisine. In the evening, explore one of the many vibrant neighborhoods that come alive after dark, or join an optional night out with a local.
- Climb the Acropolis, Athens' most iconic hilltop citadel, and UNESCO World Heritage Site, with your local guide. Perched high above the city, the Acropolis was both a religious and cultural center of Ancient Athens, and home to its most important temples. And did you know the Acropolis is dedicated to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and warfare, who was also the city’s protector?
- Wander through the Propylaea and the Temple of Athena Nike. The monumental gateway and temple dedicated to victory in battle were built into the natural landscape with incredible precision—without a single drop of modern machinery.
- Stop by the Theatre of Dionysus, the birthplace of drama. This ancient open-air theater could seat up to 17,000 spectators and hosted the original performances of plays by Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus. Basically, Broadway walked so Dionysus could run.
- Soak up panoramic views of Athens below, with Mount Lycabettus and the Aegean Sea in the distance. From this “high city,” you’ll understand why ancient Athenians believed they were blessed by the gods—and why sunsets here are legendary.
The national drink: Sample ouzo, a local anise-flavored aperitif, at an authentic Greek restaurant, locally known as a taverna. Enjoy it slowly with small plates called mezedes. National Archaeology Museum: Considered one of the greatest in the world, this museum features pieces ranging from Greek sculptures to Egyptian Antiquities. Sunset viewpoint: Hike up this Philopappos Hill to enjoy breathtaking, free panoramic views of the Acropolis and Athens skyline, which is especially beautiful for sunset.
Day 4: Travel to Santorini
You’ve conquered ancient ruins, strolled the streets of Athens, and now it’s time to swap city views for sea views. Pack your sunnies and playlists because today, you’re headed to the postcard-perfect paradise: Santorini. Think whitewashed villages, cliffside vibes, volcanic beaches, and sunsets that practically demand to be photographed.
- Hop on a morning ferry and cruise across the Aegean Sea to Santorini. Fun fact: Santorini is a volcano, and its epic shape came from a massive ancient eruption.
- Upon arrival in Santorini, drop your bags and get to know the picturesque island that you’ll be calling home for the next two nights.
- Sprint to the nearest beach (you’re surrounded by them) and enjoy a Santorini sunset. Pro tip: People clap for the sunset here. It’s that good.
Oia: Explore this traditional village in the northwestern end of Santorini, best known for its blue-domed churches, windmills, and winding streets that pop up in everyone’s feeds.
Beaches: Visit one of Santorini’s top beaches for an evening swim, from Perivolos to Kamari to Ammoudi Bay. There are tons to choose from, and you literally can’t go wrong.
Day 5: Free day in Santorini + optional cliffside wine tasting & village tour
Still loving life on this romantic island? Rhetorical question: The answer is obviously yes. Enjoy another day to check out Santorini’s famous sites and hidden gems. Grab your towel, your sunscreen, and beach hop around Santorini’s unique shores: Red Beach, White Beach, Black Beach. A full color palette, courtesy of lava. Want to dive deeper into island life? Join an optional excursion to wander through Santorini’s iconic whitewashed villages and sip local wines during a cliffside tasting with jaw-dropping views.
Akrotiri Ruins: This Minoan Bronze Age settlement buried in volcanic dust predates Pompeii and is considered by many to be the famed lost city of Atlantis.
Thira: Head up to the top of the cliffs on the southeast part of the island to explore this Greek and Roman archaeological site.
Museums: The Archaeological Museum of Thera and the Museum of Prehistoric Thera are home to well-preserved artifacts and fossils dating back to the 17th century BCE.
Day 6: Set sail for Paros
Set sail for Paros in the heart of the Cyclades Islands. With over 75 miles of golden sand beaches, Paros is one of the true delights of the Greek Islands. This is where locals go for vacation.
- Say goodbye to Santorini as you hop on the morning ferry—by now, you’re practically a ferry expert.
- Arrive in Paros and settle into your accommodations. With its stunning villages and beaches, the island has starred in numerous films and music videos, making it a go-to backdrop for creatives, artists and travelers alike.
- Join your Tour Director for a hand-picked group activity, or plot your own adventure; you’re free to customize your day any way you’d like.
Golden hour: Enjoy a legendary Paros sunset anywhere on the western coast of the island. Parikia waterfront has a beautiful promenade with cafes and bars where you can sip a drink while watching the sun dip below the sea.
Nightlife in Naoussa: When the sun sets, everyone on the island heads to Naoussa. From trendy cocktail lounges to chill beach bars and tavernas with live music, there’s something for everyone.
Day 7: Free day on Paros
Keep exploring the best of Paros. Your Tour Director might coordinate a group activity, but you’re welcome to experience Paros as you’d like. Recharge, relax and spend the days under the blue skies on one of the island’s best beaches. It’s no wonder the locals choose to vacation here. Bring a bottle of wine, a book, and your personal playlist—you’re in a beach paradise.
Lefkes: Try a quiet meal or drink inland at the village of Lefkes, a serene and rustic village in the hills above the beaches.
Parikia: Stroll the arrow, pebble-lined streets and the Frankish Castle built from the masonry originally used on an ancient temple.
Day 8: Travel to Mykonos
Head out from Paros to Mykonos by way of ferry. Though also rich in history, this island’s claim to fame is all-out, non-stop, dance-until-the-sun-comes-up nightlife. Between dazzling seascapes, sandy beaches and the best nightlife in the Mediterranean, get ready—you’ve got two big days and two even bigger nights here.
- Wave goodbye to Paros and set your sights on Mykonos as your board your ferry. With its iconic, white-washed buildings, colorful doors, and famous windmills, Mykonos is one of the most photographed spots in Greece.
- Arrive in Mykonos and settle into your accommodation, then make the most of your free time. Whether that’s relaxing on the beach, exploring a few of the islands 800 churches…or maybe just grabbing a drink at one of its 100 bars.
- Get to know the area with your Tour Director and start planning your evening. Enjoy fresh seafood at a seaside taverna, catch the sunset in Little Venice, dance the night away at one of Mykonos’ world-famous beach clubs, or sip cocktails under the stars in the Old Town. Mykonos comes alive after dark, and there’s no shortage of ways to soak it all in.
Paradise Beach: By day, this beach is exactly what it says—paradise. By night, the sand is your dance floor, and the entire beach erupts into a high-energy party that goes ‘til dawn.
Super Paradise: Opposite of its name, this is Paradise Beach’s smaller, quainter neighbor. Relax under an umbrella, hang out in a beach bar, and soak up your last day on the island.
Day 9: Free day in Mykonos
Spend your last day in Mykonos doing what you want. You’ve earned it after your unforgettable journey through the Greek islands. A slow start is the perfect way to soak in those final moments of Aegean magic. Whether you head to the nearest beach, shop for souvenirs in Chora, or search for more seafood, there’s no wrong choice in Mykonos.
More beaches: Chill out at the laid-back Agios Ioannis or take in the stunning views at Psarou Beach, a favorite for crystal-clear waters and celeb sightings.
Panagia Paraportiani: Mykonos’ most famous church is usually locked, but the fabulously photogenic whitewashed exterior is a spiritual experience in itself.
Day 10: Travel to Athens + Farewell Dinner
Back to the azure waters of the Aegean, this time returning to Athens via ferry. Once you’re back on land, enjoy one last dinner with your group.
In the evening, it’s time for your Farewell Dinner. Hosted by your Tour Director, this dinner is your chance to relive the best stories, the funniest inside jokes, and all the unforgettable moments you’ve shared with new friends.
- Board your ferry back to Athens, where it all began.
- Raise a glass, share some laughs, maybe shed a few tears, and start planning your next adventure at your Farewell Dinner.
Day 11: Fly Home
Antio, filoi!
Translation: Goodbye, friends! Your next destination awaits—home. But this isn’t goodbye. It’s “See you later.” The only question is, where?
