Itinerary

  • Day 1: Overnight flight

Settle in aboard your overnight flight to Germany and start practicing how to pronounce Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte—you’ll definitely want to order that this week.

  • Day 2: Arrive in Munich + Welcome Dinner

Willkommen in Deutschland! Munich is the capital of the German state of Bavaria, known for its folk history, gorgeous countryside, and of course, Oktoberfest. But don’t worry, beer flows like the Rhine all year long.

    Today's highlights:

    • Meet an EF representative and fellow travelers as they arrive at the airport.
    • Transfer to your hotel to check in and check out your room.
    • Enjoy a Welcome Dinner with fellow travelers at an authentic local spot.
  • Day 3: Guided city tour + optional visit to Dachau

Guten Morgen, lieblings! Today you’ll experience the super walkable Munich on foot with a local guide. See the sights, smell the sausage, then sip a stein of Spaten as a reward for a morning of hoofing it around the city.

    Today's highlights:

    • Follow a local guide on a tour of Munich’s big attractions like Frauenkirche, Marienplatz, and Glockenspiel.
    • Tempt yourself with the delicious food and drink in the massive farmer’s market and beer garden of Viktualienmarkt.
    • Stop by the world-famous Hofbräuhaus for a stein and a gute Zeit.

    Dachau memorial site (extra cost)

Once a typical German town, Dachau was the first Nazi concentration camp during World War II.

  • Day 4: Neuschwanstein Castle

You’re in for an IRL fairytale. Make the trek to one of the world’s most iconic castles, set high on a hill in the Bavarian countryside. Admire the Romanesque architecture and hear all about the quirky king who dreamed up the whole thing.

    Today's highlights:

    • Enjoy the view from the bus as you speed along the scenic Castle Road.
    • Explore Neuschwanstein, the famous castle that inspired an equally famous castle in a little place called the Magic Kingdom.
    • Learn the history of “mad” King Ludwig II, the eccentric monarch who built the castle in the late 1800s.
    • Head back to Munich for an included dinner with your group.
  • Day 5: Free day or optional excursion

The city is yours, and the bratwurst is yours to devour. Or pretzels. Or schnitzel. Or strudel. Whew, there’s a lot of good food in Munich. There’s also other cool stuff like museums and parks—check those out, too.

    Free time suggestions

Nymphenburg Palace: Munich’s beautiful 17th-century Baroque palace is surrounded by stunning symmetrical gardens, complete with huge fountains and a lovely canal.

Englischer Garten: One of the world’s largest urban parks, this English-style garden features beer gardens, a Chinese pagoda, and a spot that’s famous for...river surfing.

    Bavarian Alps adventure (extra cost)

Note: This excursion is seasonal and only runs from April through September. Availability is subject to your tour’s departure date.

Ride a cable car to an Alpine mountaintop while goggling at Bavaria’s pristine natural beauty.

    Nuremberg tour (extra cost)

Note: This excursion is seasonal and only runs from October through March. Availability is subject to your tour’s departure date.

Tour the picturesque streets and landmarks of a town famous for its post-WWII Nazi trials.

  • Day 6: Free day + Farewell Dinner

Falling in love with the city yet? Munich is so darn charming, you can almost hear it whispering sweet nothings in your ear (but they're in German, good luck with that). Enjoy the last day of your trip before chowing down on one final meal with your group.

    Free time suggestions

BMW Museum: See German innovation and engineering on full display with a collection of over 120 of BMW’s most valuable and awe-inspiring autos.

Olympic Park: Stroll through the recreational grounds of this park constructed for the 1972 Olympics, featuring a stadium, a lake, and a tower with sweeping city views.

  • Day 7: Fly home

    Auf Wiedersehen, Freunde!
Translation: Goodbye, friends! Your next destination awaits—home. But this isn’t goodbye. It’s “See you later.” The only question is, where?
