Which trip style is right for you?
Essential: Room with 3+ other travelers in conveniently located hostels. For social butterflies who thrive on meeting other people.
Plus: Stay with just one other person in 3 or 4-star hotels. Perfect for couples or anyone who enjoys recharging in their own space.
Why go?
Certain experiences can only be found at a specific place and time, and while technically you could have 220,000 pounds of tomatoes thrown at you at home, we think this is a better way. Discover a wonderfully bizarre side of Spanish culture at the world’s biggest food fight.

Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Flight
Board your overnight flight, bound for Barcelona! Sit back, relax, and practice saying, ‘una jarra de sangría,’ and be ready to order sangria upon arrival.
Day 2: Arrive in Barcelona + Welcome Dinner
Welcome to Barcelona, a city of endless parties, wacky architecture, premium beaches and the beloved FC Barcelona futbol team. If you thought you were a dedicated sports fan, wait ‘till you meet the futbol-obsessed citizens of Barcelona (that’s soccer, for us Americans). Get ready to fiesta all night, because this city truly doesn’t sleep (except during siestas, because let’s face it, adults need naps, too).
In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner of local cuisine and drinks with fellow travelers at an authentic local spot. Afterwards, you’re free to take the party elsewhere!
- Meet an EF representative at the airport.
- Transfer to your accommodations and check in.
- Receive the latest schedule from your Tour Director.
- Meet your fellow travelers as they arrive.

The festival itself is a bit chaotic so brace yourself but EF does a great job at organizing Barcelona and Valencia to give you a feel of the city while also allowing you ample free time to explore on your own
This trip was amazing, I enjoyed every bit of it. Manuel was my tour guide and it was amazing, this trip is one of those trips that is a one in a lifetime experience. The La Tomatina Festival was so much more than I expected and throwing tomatoes at people I didn't know could be...
Super fun!! There was plenty of free time to wander the cities and our tour director, Manu, organized some really great optionals; including a flamenco dance! La Tomatina was an amazing experience, the energy and excitement was palpable. Can feel claustrophobic when the trucks...
I did not like how we didn’t have roommates at first but loved the rooming accommodations. I wish we had activities that I did not have to plan myself like going to an European football game in Spain that I set up with the group. I had a great time overall just had some hiccups...
*A lot of the planned activities and the one excursion were cancelled; that was a pretty big let down. Most of the alternatives presented were "go drink" or "there's another bar" which gets old fast. *The festival was very disorganized and we pretty much spent 2 hours running...
