Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight Flight
Board your overnight flight, bound for London. Find streets named Quaggy Walk, Ha Ha Road, and Cyclops Mews. If you see anything really out there, let us know.
Day 2: Arrive in London + Welcome Dinner
Welcome to London! Where pubs rule, tea reigns, and buses are two stories tall. Visit grand palaces, famous parks, and local hotspots of the Royal Family, George Orwell, Dylan Thomas, Jimi Hendrix, Charles Dickens, and many more.
In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner of local cuisine and drinks with fellow travelers at an authentic local spot. Afterwards, youâre free to take the party elsewhere!
- Meet an EF representative at the airport.
- Check in at your accommodations.
- Receive the latest schedule from your Tour Director.
- Meet your fellow travelers as they arrive.
- See River Thames, Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square, and Covent Garden.
Day 3: Tour London + Optional London Eye & Tea
Hit the highlights of London with a local guide giving you all the inside info. Get ready to see royal palaces, down a pint of room-temperature beer (itâs how the locals drink it), and walk like a Beatleâfrom the band. Not a bug.
- Wave hello to Big Ben, the bell inside the clock tower.
- Go to Westminster Abbey, where William and Kate, and decades of royals have been wed.
- Experience a royal ritual during the Changing of the Guards.
- Walk around and explore the city.
Be a Beatle: Head to Abbey Road and walk whatâs probably the worldâs most famous crosswalk. This storied spot is a must-see for even the most casual Beatles fan.
Tower of London: Feel like a royal in the historic castle and see the legendary Crown Jewels, just donât play dress up with them.
Day 4: Free Time in London + Optional International Food Tour + Optional Night Out with a Local
Take the day to explore. Walk through some of the many royal gardens, shop on Oxford Street, go for high tea, or explore the city by foot. At 607 square miles, the city is an easy place to get your 10,000 steps in.
- Walk the cobblestone streets of London.
- Explore Piccadilly Circus. You wonât find clowns and trapeze artists here. Just shopping and all the entertainment your heart desires.
- Sip on a cup of English Breakfast at high teaâdonât forget, pinkyâs up!
The Eye: Londonâs, not yours. See the city from 443 feet high on the worldâs tallest Ferris wheel. To avoid incredibly long lines, book your ticket ahead of time. Stand in the capsule and experience a panoramic view on the Millennium Wheel.
Covent Garden: Where flowers bloom, vegetables grow, and a young girl finds a key to⊠woops, wrong garden. Seek out bargains at this bustling covered market full of souvenirs, clothes, crafts, and much more.
Day 5: Travel to Paris
Bonjour! Welcome to Paris. Visit grand palaces, royal chateauâs, and famous museums by day, and then stroll through the romantically-lit city by night. After trying to read Mona Lisaâs expression and drooling over jaw-dropping sites, youâll definitely have all the feels for the City of Love. (Cue romantic French cafĂ© music).
- Board your train at St. Pancras Stationâwhere Harry Potter caught the Hogwarts Express at platform 9Ÿâand head to Paris.
- Once you arrive in Paris, take a quick walk of the area with your Tour Director and your new BFFâs, AKA, your group.
- Hop on an evening Seine cruise and float past Notre Dame Cathedral. (Keep a lookout for the Hunchback.)
- Stand in awe in front of the Eiffel Tower as the lights sparkle against the night. Pro tip: this happens every hour on the hour.
Day 6: Tour de Paris + Optional Versailles
Explore the city of love, light, and haute couture with a local guide. If you come across a Statue of Liberty, donât be alarmedâthe champagne hasnât gone to your head, Paris is actually home to multiple replicas, one of which faces her sister from another mister that stands in New York. Then, get into a royal state of mind on an optional excursion to Versailles, and ask the Hall of Mirrors who is the fairest of them all (itâs you, duh).
Please note: The Palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays. If Day 6 falls on a Monday for your departure, this optional will take place on Day 7.
- Get the inside scoop on Parisian culture and try to understand why this high-end, fashion forward city likes to snack on snails.
- Make the city your runway as you strut down a couple of the 6,100 streets, and hit up some well-known areas like Bastille, Montmarte, and Parc de Belleville.
- Stand in awe of the Arc de Triomphe, which stands in honor of those who fought in the French Revolution.
- Work your angles, and snap an obligatory picture with your finger atop the Louvreâs pyramid point.o* at the Louvre or check out modern art and the insides of a clock tower at Musee dâOrsay.
Fall in Louvre: Paris is home to some of the worldâs most incredible art collections. Admire the Venus de Milo at the Louvre or check out modern art and the insides of a clock tower at Musee dâOrsay.
Câest Magnifique!: Head to Montmartre, a neighborhood filled with street art, incredible views overlooking the city, and the famous SacrĂ© CĆur Cathedral. Home to, and inspiration for artists like Picasso, van Gogh, Matisse, Dali, and Monet, this is the perfect place to take a stroll and admire a more authentic side of Paris.
Day 7: Free Day in Paris + Optional Market Experience
Enjoy a full day exploring Paris on your own (cue happy dance). Wander through art museums, try new foods like coq au vin (AKA chicken), or grab a baguette and a bottle of wine for a picnic at the Champ de Mars. Oh, Paris. How we love you.
- Relax on an open terrace, espresso in one hand and a croissant in the other. Yeah, this is the life.
- Stand in disbelief among famous sites like Palais-Royal Gardens and Musee Rodin, and then realize your jaw has been dropped for the last 15 minutes.
- Visit good ole Emmanuel, one of the ten massive bells hanging inside Notre Dame Cathedral (The hunchback really had his work cut out for him).
- Shop along the rue Saint-HonorĂ© and feel like one of the worldâs rich and famous, who you should keep an eye out for in this area, by the way.
Go Subterranean: Thanks to overflowing cemeteries in the late 1700s, the cityâs dead were transferred to these dark, underground crypts. Sounds haunting, doesnât it? Catch up with Parisian ancestors in The Catacombs of Paris. To avoid lines, purchase your ticket ahead of time. The 45-minute tour is also closed on Mondays and certain holidays.
Edit Sober: Visit the cafĂ© haunts of literary giants like Ernest Hemingway, James Joyce, and many others. Grab a coffee and a journal and youâll fit right in.
Day 8: Travel to Barcelona + Optional Tapas Tour
Youâre headed to Barcelona! A city of endless parties, wacky architecture, premium beaches and the beloved FC Barcelona futbol team. If you thought you were a dedicated sports fan, wait âtill you meet the futbol-obsessed citizens of Barcelona (thatâs soccer, for us Americans). Get ready to fiesta all night, because this city truly doesnât sleep (except during siestas, because letâs face it, adults need naps, too).
- Board your quick flight, bound for Barcelona, and practice saying âuna jarra de sangrĂa,â and be ready to order sangria upon arrival.
- Arrive in your new accommodations and familiarize yourself with the area.
- Stop by Las Ramblas and Placa de Catalunya with a local guide.
- Explore the Gothic Quarter with your guide. Don't forget your black eyeliner.
- The evening is yours to explore the city, try some tapas, check out the dance clubs, or hit the hay.
Day 9: Tour Barcelona
Experience Barcelonaâs unique architecture and atmosphere with a local guide as you wander the streets of this enchanting Spanish city. This historic city is home to nine UNESCO World Heritage Sites, seven of which were built by Gaudi (heâs kind of a big deal around here). Take in the impressive sites, and understand why Barcelona is the only city to receive a Royal Gold Medal for architectureâthe buildings are basically art.
- Visit one of Antoni GaudĂâs greatest works of modernist art, Park GĂŒell. This colorful park is adorned with tilework, dreamlike structures and not a straight line anywhere.
- See the 1992 Olympic Park which lines the Mediterranean Sea.
- Check out the unfinished Sagrada Familia cathedral, where construction started over 100 years ago by GaudĂ.
- Take the evening to revisit any of the sights, hit the beach, or explore on your own.
Day 10: Free Day in Barcelona + Optional Sagrada FamĂlia Tour + Farewell Dinner
The day is yours to experience Barcelona as you please. Whether that means exploring a new neighborhood, lounging on a beach, or kicking back with some tapas and a pitcher of sangria, you really canât go wrong.
Market Down: Visit La Boqueria, the famous market just off of Las Ramblas, with everything from fresh fruits to meats, flowers and sweets.
Comer Little Closer: From paella, a traditional rice dish, to Basque-style tapas, Barcelona has gastronomy locked down.
Farewell Dinner
Share some last laughs (and maybe shed a few tears) at an included farewell dinner with the group.
Day 11: Fly Home
ÂĄAdiĂłs, amigos!
Translation: Goodbye, friends. Your next destination awaitsâhome. Before you head to the airport, enjoy your last few moments together. Take one more group photo. Grab that final drink. (Fine, maybe a couple of drinks.) But this isnât goodbye. Itâs âSee you later.â The only question is, where?

FAQ
Head on over to the entry requirements tab to get the most up to date information on what documentation is needed for your trip. Note that Travelers are responsible for staying up to date with entry requirements and should check for the most current requirements by referencing the U.S. Department of State or Government of Canada website.
The UK Electronic Travel Authorization is required for entry to the United Kingdom. You can find more information here.
Electronic Travel Authorization:Â *Starting in mid-2026 U.S. and Canadian citizens will need to apply for the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) before entering most European Union (EU) and Schengen Zone countries. This online application will require a small fee, and travelers will undergo a security check to determine their eligibility for entry. You can keep up to date *here.
Travel Insurance: While travel insurance is not required, we strongly encourage all travelers to obtain coverage before departure. Check out cost-effective Travel Protection, designed to meet the needs of EF travelers, here.
Health Insurance:Â You will need to carry your primary insurance card with you while overseas. This is a critical item in the event of a medical emergency.
First things first, to be as prepared as possible make sure you download the Ultimate Break app! In the app youâll be able to meet other travelers before you meet IRL, get updates from your Tour Director, see flights and accommodations, and more.
Youâll also want to keep these dates in mind as you prepare for your trip.
100 days from departure
- Confirm your name as it appears on your passport. The earlier you do this the better as the name given at time of booking is what we use to book your flights and must match your passport. Any changes made after this point will result in fees from the airline.
- Request any special travel needs you may have. This includes flying in early or staying late, flying with a friend or travel companion, or specific airline preferences.
60 days before departure:
- Finalize any rooming upgrade requests you have.
- We get life happens. 60 days before departure is the last date weâre able to rebook your tour should your original date no longer work. Please note fees may apply. Learn more about our rebooking policy here. Any changes to your dates after this time would be a cancellation and rebooking.
While it may feel awkward at first, attempting the local language goes a long way when navigating a city and interacting with people. Practice these basic phrases in French to get started:
Barcelona (Spanish)
- Hola  â Hello
- CuĂĄnto cuesta? â How much does it cost?
- DĂłnde estĂĄ el baño? â Where is the bathroom?
- Gracias â Thank you
- Por favor â Please
- PerdĂłn / Disculpe - Excuse me
Paris (French)
- Bonjour â Hello / Good day
- Bonsoir â Good evening
- Merci / Merci beaucoup â Thank you / Thank you very much
- Sâil vous plaĂźt â Please (polite)
- Excusez-moi â Excuse me / Sorry
- OĂč sont les toilettes ? â Where are the bathrooms?
Download Duolingo or some language-learning podcasts to practice your skills, and use Google Translate to help you while on the road!
Youâll have the chance to sample a variety of local dishes during your trip; some may be offered during included meals while most will be something you are able to enjoy during your free time.Â
Included Meals*
- Welcome Dinner
- Farewell Dinner
*Some tours may have additional meals provided. Please refer to your itinerary for specific details.
Note: Vegetarian options will likely be available but may be limited/repetitive. Please submit your dietary notes via the app or online account, in addition, please let your Tour Director know of any dietary restrictions ahead of time so they can plan accordingly. Not all dietary restrictions or preference are commonly known abroad, as such we do recommend travelers bring snacks. Learn more about traveling with allergiesÂ
Dining in Europe
-
- Ordering food and drinks is a great time to practice the local language; it goes a long way with locals, and shows respect for their culture.
- Restaurants ask you to choose between still or sparkling water, but remember sparkling water is an added cost.
- The less special requests you make at a restaurant, the more accurate your dish will be.
- Itâs normal to seat yourself in a restaurant instead of waiting to be seated.
- Wait-staff in Europe are not as attentive as in the US; donât be afraid to flag someone over for help!
We recommend you avoid checking a bag, but if thatâs not possible, you should ensure that you bring extra clothes and essentials in a carry-on bag as a precaution. You'll need to refer to your airlineâs website for weight limits.
Pro tip: If youâre checking a bag, we suggest purchasing an Airtag, or similar tracking technology, to keep track of your bag if it gets delayed or lost by the airline.
For weight and size restrictions please refer to your airlineâs website. Flight information will be available 30 days prior to departure in your online account. Below you'll find some critical packing information and suggestions.
- The most important piece of advice we can give you: Pack light! Your international airline ticket does include a checked bag, but years of customer feedback tells us a carry-on is the way to go. You may need to carry your suitcase where buses and elevators cannot, so make sure you are comfortable carrying everything you bring yourself.
- You've probably heard the hacks about rolling clothes and using packing cubes a million times, but there's a reason for that! It really does help.
- If you choose to pack all of your toiletries, don't bring your regular-sized bottles from home. Offload some of that into travel-sized containers.
- Choose your luggage wisely. We recommend a roller carry-on bag and a backpack as your personal item.
- Choose shoes carefully as well. They're some of the bulkiest items you can pack, so we recommend a good pair of walking shoes and a pair of climate-appropriate shoes (boots or sandals depending on the destination and time of year). We also recommend a pair of closed-toe water shoes if your itinerary has any water activities.
- Make a packing list of must-haves and stick to it. If you have a little extra space in your bags once all your must-haves are packed, then consider adding in a few nice extras.
- Unfortunately, luggage can get lost. Itâs a painful situation no matter what, but here are tips to ease some of the hassle:
- DO NOT put important medications in a checked bag. If your luggage is lost, this could become a dangerous issue.
- Even if you put most of your clothes in a checked bag, put a couple outfits in your carry-on along with your toiletries.
- If you are forced to check you carry-on at the gate, be sure to remove essentials and valuables before handing it over.
- Carefully review TSA restrictions when packing. There are a number of items not allowed in your carry-on and liquids have certain restrictions.
- Check out the local weather; we haven't figured out how to control the weather yet so best to be prepared and plan accordingly.
- Don't forget: Outlets overseas can differ from the US, so be sure to pack the right power adapters/converters!
We categorize this trip as a low activity level. This means you're ready to choose your own adventure. You may spend more time on a bus or vehicle but there will be some walking and activities as well. Thereâs also some free time for you to enjoy at your own pace. On these tours, be prepared to:
- Walk a minimum of 7,500k steps per day (more if you add excursions)
- Use public transportation
- Climb on and off a motor coach or vehicle unassisted
- Manage your own luggage (including carrying luggage upstairs if no elevator)
- Climb occasional stairs, hills and navigate various terrains (think cobblestones) to different sites
- Stand for periods of time during guided commentary and photo stops
For Essential Trips: Be able to climb a ladder for bunk beds (if applicable)
Today's the day! You're about to head off on the adventure of a lifetime. While unimaginable memories await you on the other side, you've likely got a long flight (or flights!) ahead of you. Whether you're a first time flier or an airport veteran, flying can be stressful. But it doesn't have to be! Check out our articles on flights so that you're a pro before you even clear security. Here you'll find tips on checking for flights, seat selection, luggage requirements, and more!
For those with an Ultimate Break flight package: Once you land, a representative will be waiting for you in the arrivalâs hall (after youâve picked up your bag and gone through customs). The exact meeting point will be communicated to you by your Tour Director when they join the app a few weeks prior to departure..
If your flight is delayed or cancelled, your first step is to talk with an airline representative to get rebooked onto the next available option. If you're still experiencing difficulties, take a look at our article on flight delays and cancellations and give us a call at +1-617-619-1411.
For those who booked flights independently: You are responsible for meeting the group at the first accommodation. Transfers are paid by travelers who purchased flights with us, as such we nor your Tour Director can accommodate you on arranged transfers. Â Check in usually starts at 3pm - if you get to the first accommodation early, ask the front desk if they can hold your luggage and then head out to do some exploring!
Your tour package includes all internal transfers, including bus transportation and airfare between cities. Your tour director will help facilitate the check in process for the group for any internal flights your tour may have. To help internal flight days go smoother, make sure to listen to your tour directorâs instructions thoroughly, be on time, and pack strategically.
We recommend budgeting $80-$100 per day to cover tipping, food, and shopping. You know your spending habits best, if you want to do it all budget on the higher end.Â
You will use the Euro and British Pound on this trip. We strongly advise that you take debit and credit cards (ideally with a chip), which can be used to withdraw cash at local banks as needed. Make sure to check with your bank or credit card company about withdrawal fees and/or foreign exchange fees. While better rates of exchange are usually available overseas, ordering currency from your local bank may be an option.
Tipping
More insight on local tipping customs will be shared by your Tour Director. We do however, have a few suggestions for tipping your guides throughout the trip.
- We recommend tipping your Tour Director $10-$12 per day at the end of the trip
- For local guides, you should tip $2-$3 at the end of each experience.

- Transportation Safety: When getting a taxi, make sure to agree on a price before getting in. At the end of a night out, use trusted transportation like a licensed taxi, Uber or Uber like service, and always have cash on hand.
- Nightlife: As with anywhere in the world, watch your drink, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Always make sure to have a buddy or two when you go out, never hit the town alone.
