Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight flight
Grab your swords (celestial bronze, of course), brush up on your Greek and hieroglyphs, and buckle in for a time-traveling trip through the lands of gods and monsters. First stop: Cairo.
Day 2: Arrive in Cairo + included dinner
Welcome to the city of the gods, where powerful relics are hidden in plain sight. Carter and Sadie Kane may have left their mark here, but now it’s your turn to explore a city where magic still lingers in the air.
Please note: Getting to Egypt takes some time. Arrivals tend to be late on this day.
- Arrive at the airport and meet up with your Tour Director and fellow travelers before heading to your hotel in Cairo.
- Meet your crew—aka fellow initiates of Brooklyn House—and settle into your hotel.
- Catch some much-needed zzz’s before you start unlocking ancient secrets.
Day 3: Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx + Grand Egyptian Museum + Welcome Dinner
“You must be joking,” Sadie once said standing before the Pyramids. You’ll say the same thing when you see them for yourself. On your first full day in Cairo, the ancient past collides with the present. Stand in awe before the towering Pyramids of Giza, marvel at the engineering behind the Great Pyramid, and snap that photo smooching the Sphinx. Then spend the afternoon on a guided tour of the enormous, just-completed Grand Egyptian Museum with over 100,000 artifacts, including the full treasures of King Tutankhamun’s tomb.
In the evening, enjoy your Welcome Dinner! Hosted by your Tour Director, this kickoff dinner is all about meeting your fellow travelers, swapping stories, and easing into the rest of the trip ahead.
- Tour the Giza Necropolis with an Egyptologist—imagine Carter explaining how the pyramids align with magical ley lines.
- See the Sphinx and decide for yourself if it's glaring at you.
- Wander the Grand Egyptian Museum and marvel at King Tut’s treasures (yes, that includes the real gold mask).
- Kick off your quest at the Welcome Dinner—after all, every hero’s journey needs a proper send-off.
Day 4: Tour of Old Cairo + optional Nile cruise with tannoura show & dinner
Journey back in time (like waaay back, to the 6th century BCE) on a sightseeing tour of Old Cairo. Known as the “City of a Thousand Minarets” for its beautiful mosques, Cairo is heaven for both history nerds and architecture lovers, and today you’ll have your fill of both as you tour the historic Old Town. Maybe you’ll even find a door to the House of Life.
- Step into Coptic Cairo, or Old Cairo, one of the city’s oldest and historically Christian neighborhoods that’s home to some of the world’s most storied churches like the iconic Hanging Church, built above a Roman fortress (and maybe a secret chamber?).
- Take in the sweeping views of the city from the hilltop Salah El-Din Citadel, a 12th century fortress built to protect the city from European Crusaders. Made of limestone from the nearby Pyramids of Giza, the citadel complex features multiple mosques, palaces, and museums.
- Enter the grand Muhammad Ali Mosque, also known as the Alabaster Mosque for its bright marble walls. Inspired by the famous Blue Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey, this stunning example of Ottoman-style architecture was built in the 19th century to honor Muhammad Ali Pasha, who is considered the modern founder of Egypt. The dress code is modest, and no shoes, please!
- Wander the Khan al-Khalili Bazaar—a maze of alleyways buzzing with shops, stalls, and cafés. This is a quintessential Cairo experience, with everything from perfumes and spices to handcrafted souvenirs and gold (aka custom cartouche necklaces with your name in hieroglyphs). Take a break at El Fishawy, the city’s oldest café. Run by the same family for seven generations, it’s a local fav for Arabic coffee or mint tea and the ultimate slice of life in Cairo.
Day 5: Fly to Athens + optional night out with a local
Welcome to Athens, a land of gods, monsters, and demigod drama. You’ve left behind the sands of Cairo and stepped into Percy Jackson’s mythical world—where every ruin could be a battleground, and every statue might come to life. This is where Athena plotted, Zeus ruled, and heroes trained. But it’s not all ancient history, Athens buzzes with modern magic too, like rooftop bars above temples, street art on marble, and sunsets over the Acropolis. Get ready to walk in the footsteps of legends—just watch out for monsters along the way.
- Transfer to the airport in Cairo and board your morning flight to Athens.
- Get settled at your hotel and enjoy a free evening around town or join an optional night out with a local for your first taste of authentic Greek cuisine and drinks.
Reading time: Find a cute cafe in Athens and soak up some quiet time people watching, digging into some Greek food, and enjoying quiet time with your book.
Ancient Agora of Athens: Visit the ruins that were once the central gathering place for ancient Greeks and do your best Socrates impression.
National Archaeology Museum: It’s considered one of the greatest museums in the world, housing everything from Greek sculptures to Egyptian Antiquities.
Greek cuisine: Sample ouzo, the local anise-flavored aperitif, at an authentic Greek restaurant, locally known as a taverna.
Day 6: Guided Sightseeing tour of Athens + optional Athens food tour & lunch
Time to explore the city where gods once walked—and sometimes still do. Today, your local guide (unfortunately not a satyr) will lead you through ancient Athens, the heart of Percy Jackson’s mythological world. You’ll walk the same streets as Socrates, Plato, and probably a few stray monsters, stand beneath the Parthenon (where Athena continues to keep watch), and take in views even the gods would envy. This is the very spot where Athena and Poseidon battled it out for the city. (Spoiler: She planted an olive tree, he flooded the place. She won. Typical.)
- You’ll ascend to the Acropolis—keep an eye out for celestial bronze weaponry (or, you know, loose stones). At the top, marvel at the Parthenon, Athena’s iconic temple. Just don’t tell Percy—he’s not exactly a fan of monuments dedicated to his mom’s biggest rival.
- Marvel at the Parthenon, the crown jewel of the Acropolis. Dedicated to the goddess Athena, this marble masterpiece was completed in 438 BCE and is considered the pinnacle of Doric architecture. It’s not just a ruin—it’s a symbol of democracy, resilience, and ancient engineering.
- Stop by the Theatre of Dionysus, the birthplace of drama. This ancient open-air theater could seat up to 17,000 spectators and hosted the original performances of plays by Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus. Basically, Broadway walked so Dionysus could run.
- Wander through the Propylaea and the Temple of Athena Nike. The monumental gateway and temple dedicated to victory in battle were built into the natural landscape with incredible precision—without a single drop of modern machinery.
- Soak up panoramic views of Athens below, with Mount Lycabettus and the Aegean Sea in the distance. From this “high city,” you’ll understand why ancient Athenians believed they were blessed by the gods—and why sunsets here are legendary.
Day 7: Free day or optional Greek island day cruise
Today’s choice is yours: explore ancient temples or sail the Aegean like a hero headed for Camp Half-Blood. If you’re loving the Athens vibes, take today to keep exploring—trust us, you won’t run out of things to do. Spend the morning museum-hopping between the sleek, glass-walled Acropolis Museum and the National Archaeological Museum, or wander through the trendy streets of Plaka and Monastiraki, where ancient ruins peek out between boutiques, flea markets, and hidden cafés. If you're craving a change of scenery, opt for a day cruise and trade city streets for sea breezes on a Greek island day cruise.
Kolonaki: Combine two favorite traveler pastimes—shopping and people watching—in this chic, trendy neighborhood in central Athens.
Mount Lycabettus: Hike (or don’t—there’s a cable car) to the highest point in Athens for spectacular views of the city in every direction.
Plaka: If you take your neighborhoods like you take your ancient ruins (historic), Plaka is for you. Feel the energy as you stroll the narrow streets in search of the perfect taverna.
Panathenaic Stadium: Combine your love of architecture and sports at the site of the first modern Olympic games. And yes, this is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble.
Day 8: Fly to Rome
Welcome to Rome, home of Camp Jupiter, praetors, and way too many temples for one city. This is the place where mythology meets marble, but whatever you do, don’t get it twisted with the Greeks. You’ve time-traveled your way from pharaohs to philosophers, and now it’s all emperors, espresso, and endless pasta. In Rome, ancient ruins stand shoulder to shoulder with bustling piazzas and fashion-forward locals on Vespas. Whether you're tossing a coin in the Trevi Fountain or grabbing gelato on the Spanish Steps, Rome will sweep you off your feet—again and again.
- Transfer to the airport in Athens and board your flight to Rome.
- Get settled at your hotel, then enjoy a free evening in the Eternal City and get a head start on all the sounds, sights, and snacks it has to offer before your first official day.
Sunset at Piazza del Popolo: Experiences one of Rome's most famous squares at sunset is magical. For even more magic, climb the Pincio Terrace for panoramic views of the city.
Pantheon at night: Seeing the Pantheon after dark is a whole different experience. The square in front of it becomes much quieter and the building itself is beautifully illuminated.
Day 9: Tour of Rome + optional pasta cooking class & lunch
Rome wasn’t built in a day—and you’re about to see why it’s lasted thousands. This city is a living museum where every ruin, fountain, and cobblestone house the secrets of emperors, gladiators, and gods. But don’t be fooled by its age: modern Rome pulses with life, from cappuccino-fueled mornings to late-night piazza hangs. You’ll explore iconic landmarks, eat food worthy of a Roman holiday, and if you’re up for it—learn to make pasta like a true Italian nonna.
- Follow your local guide through the most iconic Roman landmark that has withstood the test of time—the Colosseum, the largest ancient amphitheater ever built. Learn about the gladiatorial games and the real-life drama that took place in front of 50,000 roaring fans. Feel the ghosts of gladiators—and maybe Frank Zhang—cheering in the stands.
- Explore the sprawling Roman Forum, the ruins of ancient government buildings, temples, and basilicas that were once the heart of Roman public life. You’ll walk in the footsteps of Julius Caesar, Cicero, and countless toga-clad senators.
- Climb Capitoline Hill, one of Rome’s seven legendary hills and a symbol of ancient Roman power, now home to elegant palazzos designed by Michelangelo and sweeping views of the Forum below.
Day 10: Free day or optional visit to the Vatican + Farewell Dinner
Today, you get to explore centuries worth of culinary perfection, unbelievable architecture, and local fashion on your own. And let it be said, Rome looks good for being 2,000 years old. Shop, eat, drink, and talk like an Italian (with your hands) during your free day. You can also choose to visit the Vatican—the world’s smallest country!—and immerse yourself in centuries of art, history, and grandeur.
In the evening, it’s time for your Farewell Dinner. Hosted by your Tour Director, this dinner is your chance to relive the best stories, the funniest inside jokes, and all the unforgettable moments you’ve shared with new friends.
Via Appia Antica: One of the OG roads of the Roman Empire (and first highways ever), the Appian Way starts at the Roman Forum and runs 365 miles east.
Testaccio: One of Rome’s most vibrant neighborhoods, Testaccio is home to a thriving nightlife scene, funky street art, and a ton of unique food.
Day 11: Fly home
You came, you saw, you conquered. Whether you're headed back to Brooklyn House or Camp Half-Blood, one thing’s for sure—the gods (and magicians) would be proud.

When traveling to Egypt it's important to prepare for a long travel day. Flying from the US, it is not uncommon to have multiple legs of your journey.
Generally, expect to depart on day one in the early morning/afternoon, arriving to Egypt in the late afternoon/evening the next day. Direct flights to Egypt are incredibly limited, as such you should expect 1-3 layovers. Worried about jetlag, delayed flights, or just want more time to explore, we strongly encourage extending your stay to arrive early or stay late. This way you can settle in without the stress of missing anything.
We recommend budgeting $80-100 per day to cover tipping, food, and shopping. You know your spending habits best, if you want to do it all budget on the higher end.
On this trip you will use both the Egyptian Pound and the Euro. Both USD and Egyptian pounds are accepted pretty ubiquitously in Egypt. If you are bringing USD, we suggest bringing small, crisp bills. We strongly advise that you take debit and credit cards (ideally with a chip), which can be used to withdraw cash at local banks as needed. Make sure to check with your bank or credit card company about withdrawal fees and/or foreign exchange fees. While better rates of exchange are usually available overseas, ordering currency from your local bank may be an option.
Your Tour Director is with you during your entire trip. They're part logistics master, making sure you get to see all that we have planned; part rockstar, sharing with your local hotspots; and part guru, sharing and inviting you into the culture. Our Tour Directors are fully trained and ready to support you in making your journey safe, seamless, and unforgettable!
In some locations you will be met by a local guide who will lead you through our traveler-inspired walking tour. You'll get some local history and culture while also making sure you hit the photo stops. You'll walk away with an insider's perspective and some great pictures.
On Plus trips, you will be in a room with one other traveler unless a single room upgrade is purchased. Roommates are assigned randomly based on gender unless a specific roommate is requested in advance. You can do this at the time of booking or in your online account up to 60 days before departure.
While these destinations are considered safe, there are certain safety protocols that we've put in place that are different than other parts of the world. Like any destination though, it's important to stay aware of your surroundings and follow basic safety guidelines. Pickpocketing can occur, especially in crowded areas or tourist hotspots. Keep your belongings secure and be cautious with strangers offering unsolicited help or deals.
Here are a few additional points:

- Manage your own luggage (including carrying luggage upstairs if there is no elevator)
- Climb occasional stairs, hills and navigate various terrains (think cobblestones) to different sites
