Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight flight
Board your overnight flight for Thailand. It’s a long haul but trust us—WORTH IT. Recline that seat and start dreaming of all the sights you’ll see, culture you’ll learn about, and noodles you’ll eat.
Day 2: Arrive in Bangkok
Welcome to the Land of Smiles! Which you won’t stop doing on this trip. You’re only in the capital city for a night before heading to Chiang Mai to temple it up and chill with elephants, but don’t worry, you’ll be back in a few days.
- Meet an EF representative at the airport and head to your accommodations.
- Get the latest schedule and info from your Tour Director.
- Zzzzz. Tomorrow the real adventure begins.
Day 3: Fly to Chiang Mai + Welcome Dinner
Good morning. Actually, GREAT morning, because you’re waking up in Thailand. For the next twelve days you’ll gawk at elaborate temples, soak up the sun on gorgeous beaches, and inhale all the pad Thai, khao soi, and seafood you can handle.
- Hop on your morning flight to the northern city of Chiang Mai, nestled in Thailand’s lush mountains.
- Get to know the area and grab some lunch after you settle into your accommodation.
- Enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your group at an authentic local spot.
Day 4: Elephant sanctuary visit + included lunch
Elephants are the grandpas of the animal kingdom, with their gentle adorableness and little hairs atop their heads—and today you get to chill with them at an elephant sanctuary.
- Take advantage of Chiang Mai's buzzing (pun intended) specialty coffee scene.
- Spend the afternoon learning about and observing Asian elephants in their natural habitat.
- Sit down for an included lunch with your group.
- Enjoy a free evening to grab dinner and soak up the vibes in Chiang Mai.
Muay Thai: Grab some friends and check out Chiang Mai’s Muay Thai scene, a fast-paced martial art that’s practically a religion in Thailand.
Wororot Market: If you love shopping and eating, you’ll be in heaven here. There are tons of food vendors, plus souvenirs, clothing, ceramics, handicrafts, and more.
Day 5: Wat Suan Dok & Wot Phra Thai Doi Suthep + overnight train to Bangkok
Let's get into one of Thailand’s biggest draws: the temples. First up: Wat Suan Dok, once used as a royal flower garden. The afternoon is all about Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the most holy and opulent Buddhist site in Thailand. Nbd.
- Visit Wat Suan Dok Temple and learn how the “flower garden temple” got its name.
- Ask a monk anything at an open forum and gain better insight into Buddhist life.
- Climb the 306 steps to get to the famous Buddhist temple, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep.
- Board an overnight train to Bangkok and try to get some shuteye.
Day 6: Arrive in Bangkok + Grand Palace + Thai massage
Known as The Venice of the East, Bangkok is one of the world’s top travel destinations, home to ancient temples, nonstop nightlife, and stunning architecture—like the ginormous royal palace that you get to see today. But first, breakfast.
- Arrive in Bangkok and head to a local restaurant for some much-needed fuel.
- Visit the Grand Palace, once a residence but now used for ceremonies by the Thai royal family.
- Gawk at the most sacred spot in Thailand, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.
- Relax and recharge with a Thai massage that combines stretching and acupressure.
Day 7: Free day in Bangkok + nighttime street food tour
Go wherever the Bangkok breeze blows you, because today you’re free as a Siamese fireback (the national bird of Thailand, duh). But try not to stuff your face with toooo many treats—you’re gonna be eating a lotta street food tonight.
- Sleep in...OR wake up and track down some Thai coffee—Doi Chang and Doi Tung are the most famous and delicious brands.
- Do whatever you want! There’s no end to the delights in Bangkok.
- Try noodles, curries, desserts, and more on a food tour through the night markets.
National Museum: Soak up even more Thai history, art, and culture at one of the biggest museums in Southeast Asia.
Lumphini Park: As the first public park in Thailand, this tree-filled urban oasis features walking paths and a lake where you can rent boats.
Day 8: Explore more of Bangkok + overnight train to southern Thailand
Bangkok is truly a magical melting pot of ancient history, rich culture, and modern city—and today you'll see even more. And if you’ve emerged from last night’s food coma, you’ll find even more delicious things to eat at the swanky riverside ICONSIAM.
- Visit Charoenkrung, Bangkok’s historic commercial district now famous for its art and food scenes.
- Take some free time to explore all the shops, galleries, cafes, and street art.
- Ferry to the luxurious ICONSIAM mall to shop, grab lunch at the Thai food hall, and relax by the longest fountain in Southeast Asia.
- Board your overnight train for southern Thailand. It’s beach time, baby.
Day 9: Travel to Krabi + free day
It’s been go go go 'til now, and you’re due for some well-earned laying-around time. Krabi is about to blow your mind (in the most relaxing way possible) with its secluded beaches, jaw-dropping sunsets, and picture-perfect natural beauty.
- Disembark in Surat Thani and hop a bus to Krabi on the coast of beautiful Phang Nga Bay.
- Hit up the beach after checking in—you have a whole afternoon free to sizzle on the sand.
- Grab some more street food and head out to explore Krabi’s night market and vibrant beachfront party scene.
Day 10: Free day or optional Phi Phi Islands day trip
Kick back, relax, and embrace the Krabi way of life. Whether that includes sampling new Thai foods, building an epic sandcastle, or taking a dip in the turquoise water—zero wrong answers.
Railay Beach: For 100ish baht ($3!) you can hop on a short boat ride from Ao Nang to this world-famous beach to swim, check out the caves, and watch the sunset.
Tiger Cave Temple: Trade the beach for an elevated BPM and hike the 1200+ steps to Wat Tham Suea, or the Tiger Cave Temple, for sweeping views and a huge Buddha.
Day 11: Travel to Phuket
"Ugh, more beaches?!” said no one ever. Phuket is dripping with incredible coastline and ocean views, but that’s not all. This magical island is steeped in ancient history, rich culture, and endless natural wonders.
Big Buddha: And when we say big, we mean BIG—this Buddha comes in at 148 feet tall. Hike up from Karon Beach and catch your breath while enjoying sweeping ocean views.
Bangla Road: When the sun goes down, and the roads close to vehicle traffic, Bangla Road is the place to be. Loud music. Cheap beer. Neon lights. Basically an outdoor club.
Day 12: Cruise Ao Phang Nga National Park
Your camera roll is about to blow up, because a cruise through Phang Nga Bay in Ao Phang Nga National Park is worth a million pics.
- Float through the turquoise water and see if you can count all 42 islands.
- Kayak in tidal caves and marvel at the surrounding limestone cliffs.
- Release decorative flower floats called krathongs into the naturally luminescent water after dark for a truly unique experience.
- Enjoy an included buffet lunch and dinner on your dreamy excursion.
Day 13: Free day in Phuket + optional evening cabaret show
What’s that? Another day doing whatever you want in actual paradise? Looks like someone won the life lottery!
Thai tastes: Seafood in Phuket is ICONIC, so you’d be missing out if you didn’t try some tom yam goong (spicy shrimp soup), lobster, crab, or fresh oysters.
Beach life: Post up on the sand, grab a fruity drink, and slather on the SPF at some of the world’s best beaches.
Day 14: Flight to Bangkok + Farewell Dinner
Your adventure is almost over, but what a place to wrap up two weeks of new cultures, new foods, and new friends. Wing your way back to Bangkok for one last night in Thailand—tomorrow, you’re going home.
Please note that depending on flight patterns, some travelers may depart on their return flights late this evening.
- Board a quick flight back to Bangkok, where it all started. Kinda poetic, huh?
- Check off any final to-dos from your bucket list or get some rest for your journey.
- Share a few laughs (and maybe shed a few tears) at a Farewell Dinner with your group.
Day 15: Fly home
ลาก่อนเพื่อน!
Translation: Goodbye, friends! Your next destination awaits—home. But this isn’t goodbye. It’s “See you later.” The only question is, where?
Which trip type is right for you?
Essential: Room with 3+ other travelers in conveniently located hostels. For budget-conscious extroverts who love a group moment.
Plus: Room with just one other person in 3- or 4-star hotels. Perfect for people who value privacy and recharging in their own space.

Get ready to dive into a destination that’s equal parts tropical paradise and cultural playground—Thailand is where golden temples meet turquoise waters and buzzing street markets. Whether you're wandering through the neon-lit chaos of Bangkok, soaking up the chill island vibes in Koh Phi Phi, or exploring the lush jungles and elephant sanctuaries of Chiang Mai, every corner of Thailand brings something unforgettable. The food? Next-level. Think spicy curries, mango sticky rice, and pad Thai straight from a sizzling wok.
Thailand’s climate is warm year-round, with the dry season (November to April) offering sunny skies and beach-perfect days, while the green season (May to October) brings dramatic rainstorms that make the landscapes even more lush and vibrant. The south is all about island hopping and beach lounging, while the north leans into mountains, temples, and rich cultural traditions. Whether you're chasing waterfalls, temple hopping, or dancing under the stars at a full moon party, Thailand is a sensory overload in the best way—tailor-made for travelers who want adventure, beauty, and a whole lot of fun.

On this trip you'll use the Thai baht. We strongly advise that you take debit and credit cards (ideally with a chip), which can be used to withdraw cash at local banks as needed. Make sure to check with your bank or credit card company about withdrawal fees and/or foreign exchange fees. While better rates of exchange are usually available overseas, ordering currency from your local bank may be an option.

Thailand is considered safe for travelers, but like any destination, it's important to stay aware of your surroundings and follow basic safety guidelines. Pickpocketing can occur, especially in crowded areas or tourist hotspots. Keep your belongings secure and be cautious with strangers offering unsolicited help or deals.
Here are a few additional points:
- Health and Safety: Talking with your healthcare provider about any vaccinations or medication you may want to consider. Here are some additional tips for traveling with medication and traveling with allergies.
- International Data Plan: In the event you need to get in touch with your Tour Director or Ultimate Break while abroad, it’s important to invest in an international data plan. Call your cell phone provider to understand their plans or look into purchasing a sim card.
- Transportation Safety: When getting a taxi, make sure to agree on a price before getting in. At the end of a night out, use trusted transportation like a licensed taxi, Uber of Uber like service, and always have cash on hand.
- Nightlife: As with anywhere in the world, watch your drink, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

This is your classic sightseeing tour. Think lots of walking and taking in all the sites. On these tours, be prepared to:
- Walk a minimum of 10k steps per day (more if you add excursions)
- Use public transportation
- Climb on and off a motor coach or vehicle unassisted
- Manage your own luggage (including carrying luggage upstairs if no elevator)
- Climb occasional stairs, hills and navigate various terrains (think cobblestones) to different sites
- Stand for periods of time during guided commentary and photo stops
For Essential Tours: Be able to climb a ladder for bunk beds (if applicable)
Excursions are available for purchase at a discounted rate prior to departure. Some excursions may be available for purchase while you are on tour directly through your mobile app but are subject to availability and will be more expensive.
We recommend purchasing excursions at least 3 days prior to your tour departure. Please note some excursions have advance booking deadlines. Check your tour itinerary for more information to ensure you don’t miss the deadline to add them.
