Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight flight
You’re heading to the bottom of the world—or close enough. Southern Africa is a long journey from just about anywhere, so settle in, load up a playlist, and start mentally preparing for one of the most OMG-worthy trips of your life. The next 13 days are going to be worth every hour in the air.
Day 2: Arrive in Johannesburg
Touch down at Johannesburg and meet your Tour Director, who’ll be there to get you sorted and transferred to your hotel. Johannesburg or Joburg, or Jozi, depending on who you ask, is South Africa’s largest city and it’s economic heartbeat. It’s a city that has persevered through hardship and come out the other side with a creative energy and resilience that’s hard to miss. Tonight, get some rest. Tomorrow, you’ll start to really explore it.
- Arrive at the airport to meet your fellow travelers and your Tour Director.
- Transfer to your accommodations and check in to your hotel.
- Sit back, relax, and enjoy dinner at your hotel before your adventure begins tomorrow.
Ask your Tour Director:
- The story behind the names “Joburg,” “Jozi,”and “eGoli”. The city goes by many names. For example, eGoli, meaning “City of Gold” in Zulu, is a nod to the gold rush that founded it in 1886.
- The full story of Nelson Mandela: From Vilakazi Street to 27 years in prison to the presidency—your Tour Director can walk you through one of the most extraordinary lives of the 20th century.
