Itinerary

Map of Italy showing a travel route: Venice to Florence, Florence to Rome, with stops in Bologna, Cinque Terre, and more. Icons for flights included.

Day 1: Overnight Flight

Board your overnight flight to Italy—your gateway to unforgettable experiences and flavors. Get ready to indulge in the rich culinary delights of Italy: from perfectly crisp pizza and fresh pasta to creamy gelato, decadent cannoli, and a glass of limoncello. It’s a food lover’s dream, and you’re about to savor every bite.

Day 2: Arrive in Venice + Welcome Dinner

Welcome to Venice! Situated on 118 islands, intersected by 175 canals and spanned by more than 400 bridges, this city has had more praise showered upon it from travelers, writers and artists than any other city in the world.

In the evening, it's time for our Welcome Dinner and Event.  Every great trip deserves a great beginning—and that's exactly what the Welcome Dinner and Event delivers. Hosted by your new bestie, your Tour Director, this kickoff moment is all about meeting your fellow travelers, learning their names, swapping stories, and easing into the adventure ahead. It's casual, fun, and the first step in turning a group of strangers into something more. Because at Ultimate Break, we believe memories are best made together.

Today’s included experiences
  • Arrive at the airport—your Tour Director will be waiting to show you how to get around the city.
  • Venture into Venice proper or see the area surrounding your accommodation.
  • Head to the classic spots like St Mark’s Square, or the Rialto bridge in the evening for no crowds, just magic.
  • Learn about andar per bacari, the local past time of going from bacaro to bacaro (bacaro = wine bar) enjoying inexpensive local wines and prosecco, the company of friends and strangers while enjoying Venetian tapas, the cicchetti [chee-KEHT-tee].
Free time suggestions
Ask Your Tour Director

  • If you can row a gondola? It's possible, thanks to a unique partnership with Row Venice (extra cost, see FAQ)
  • About how to beat the lines and get inside St Mark’s basilica to look at 900 years of Venetian art and history (extra cost)
  • To visit to colorful Burano for a picture perfect afternoon and lunch (extra cost)
  • The times for the local markets, the most ramous, the Rialto Mercato, is right on the Grand Canal and is open six days per week
  • When to go to the famed bookstore, Libreria Acqua Alta is just a few minutes walk from St Mark’s square and is beloved as a unique, chaotic spot in the heart of Venice (see Venice FAQ Section)
  • Getting to one of the cities’ famed view points, like the campanile of San Giorgio Maggiore, whether you want the perfect photo of St Mark’s or the Grand Canal, we’ll point you to the spots to snag those iconic photos from Venice
  • About the places to buy locally made souvenirs that support the community, local producers and the Veneto region

Sorrento extension

Make the most of your Italian dream vacation with a few extra sun-soaked days along the coast of Sorrento—where pastel buildings hug dramatic cliffs and every corner smells like fresh lemon. You'll visit the ruins of Pompeii, take day trips to Positano and Capri, and soak up views that will live rent-free in your camera roll forever. It’s the perfect finale to your Italy adventure.

Day 10: Transfer to Sorrento via Pompeii

Trade city streets for coastal breezes as you head south to Sorrento by bus. But first—Pompeii. Stop for a guided tour of the ancient Roman city frozen in time, with views of the mighty Mount Vesuvius in the distance. Then it’s off to Sorrento, where lemon groves and cliffside vistas await.

Free time suggestions

Old Town Sorrento: Wander the old town of Sorrento and explore its narrow lanes lined with boutiques, cafés, and limoncello shops. Don’t miss Piazza Tasso, a picturesque square at the heart of the city, or the 15th-century Sedile Dominova, the last surviving noble seat in the entire Campania region.

Gnoc to be missed: Hungry? Try gnocchi alla Sorrentina—soft potato gnocchi baked in rich tomato sauce with melted mozzarella and fresh basil. It’s a comforting classic that captures Sorrento’s homestyle spirit.

Day 11: Day trip to Positano

Get ready for that Amalfi Coast moment. Today, you’ll travel like a local to the cliffside village of Positano—and return by boat! Pastel buildings tumble into the sea, and every corner looks like a postcard. Enjoy free time to explore, grab lunch, dip your toes in the water, or simply soak up the bougie beach town vibes.

Today’s included experiences

Beaches of Positano: Relax on one of Positano’s famed beaches. Head to Spiaggia Grande for a lively atmosphere and that iconic cliffside view. Prefer something quieter? Try Fornillo or Arienzo beaches for sunbathing, swimming, and a more local feel.

Day 12: Free day in Sorrento or optional day trip in Capri

Today is yours to explore however you please. Soak up the sun, sip a spritz, and grab a seaside bite in Sorrento—or take it to the next level with an optional excursion to the glamorous island of Capri. Think boat cruise, Blue Grotto views, and living your best Mediterranean life.

Day 13: Fly home

The time has come to transfer to the Naples Airport for your flight home. But this isn’t goodbye—it’s see you later. The only question is: where to next?
