Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to San José
Welcome to San José, Costa Rica, the cultural and political capital of this vibrant, thriving nation. Crack open a coconut and crank up the calypso music, things are about to get tropical.
- Arrive at the airport to meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers as they arrive.
- Transfer to your hotel to check into your accommodations.
- Explore the area as the rest of your group trickles in.
Day 2: Travel to Arenal Region + kayak Lake Arenal + Welcome Dinner
The rainforest is filled with secrets and today you get to discover them. Travel by bus to the Arenal region of Costa Rica, an outdoor adventure and nature playground known for its iconic volcano (fun fact: the last time it was active was 2010). Keep your eyes and ears open as you explore the Arenal’s wilderness, wildlife, and waters.
In the evening, enjoy your Welcome Dinner! Hosted by your Tour Director, this kickoff dinner is all about getting to know the others in your group and easing into the rest of the trip ahead.
- Travel from San José to the Arenal Region and watch the scenery shift from bustling city life to lush, mountainous jungle as you make your way north toward the Arenal region. This area is home to one of Costa Rica’s youngest and most active volcanoes, known for its near-perfect conical shape and surrounding rainforests.
- Kayak across the calm, sapphire-blue waters of Lake Arenal—the largest lake in Costa Rica. Watch out for tropical birds like toucans, herons, and flycatchers that swoop between the shoreline trees, and don’t forget to look up at the huge volcano that looms dramatically above you.
- Head out for your Welcome Dinner with your group and raise a glass to the first full day of your trip.
