Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Bangkok
Board your overnight flight, bound for Thailand! It’s a long haul but will be well worth it. For now, sit back and relax. You’ll be arriving at night the next day, so be ready to hit the hay and rest up for the coming adventures.
Day 2: Arrive in Bangkok
Welcome to Bangkok! This capital city has it all, from ancient temples to stunning architecture to wild nightlife. You’re coming in at night, but you’ll have plenty of time throughout your trip to treat yourself to a Thai massage and as much street food and Thai iced tea as humanly possible.
- Arrive at the airport to meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers as they arrive.
- Transfer to your hotel to check into your accommodations.
- Get some rest so you can hit the ground running tomorrow.
Day 3: Tour Bangkok + Welcome Dinner
Bangkok is one of the world’s top travel destinations, and you’ll soon understand why. Explore the city with your Tour Director the way it was meant to be seen: by river. This city isn’t called the “Venice of the East” for nothing. Today, you’ll visit some of the most important Buddhist temples in Thailand, including the Grand Palace.
In the evening, enjoy your Welcome Dinner! Hosted by your Tour Director, this kickoff dinner is all about getting to know the others in your group and easing into the rest of the trip ahead.
- Get to know Bangkok on a guided sightseeing tour of the city.
- Visit the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, located on the grounds of the Grand Palace, to see a very famous green figure that many believe protects the entire Kingdom of Thailand.
- Soak in some ancient history at the Temple of Dawn, a colorful sanctuary on the banks of the Chao Phraya that’s been around since the 17th century.
- Coast through canals on a boat tour and see exactly why Bangkok is referred to as the “Venice of the East.”
Ask Your Tour Director
- How to get around: They can advise on the best rideshare apps to use or how to get around by train when Bangkok traffic grinds to a halt.
- What night markets to visit: These staples of Southeast Asia are constantly evolving, and your Tour Director can point you to the best ones for shopping, dining, or nightlife.
- How to haggle: They can tell you what can and can’t be negotiated for, where to start respectful counteroffers, and when to walk away.
Day 4: Explore the Damnoen Saduak Floating Markets
The famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Market is like a mall, but everything all the stores are on the water and have to be accessed by longboats. Plus you can find locally-crafted goods and fresh fruit. And the food vendors put your mall’s food court to shame. Okay, so it’s not like a mall at all. It’s so much better.
- Head to the world-famous Damnoen Saduak Floating Markets, located in a bustling village outside of the city.
- Explore the maze of narrow canals by boat and test your haggling skills with the vendors.
- Browse the small wooden boats that sell fresh produce, colorful flowers, and local food.
- Shop around and pick up some souvenirs for your friends and family back home. And for yourself, obviously.
Day 5: Fly to Chiang Mai + visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple
As Bangkok’s calmer, more spiritual cousin, Chiang Mai blends ancient temples and mountain views with a laid-back, creative vibe. Ancient tradition and modern creativity blend seamlessly here. Oh, and there are elephants. Lot of elephants.
- Hop on a flight to Chiang Mai, the largest city in Northern Thailand.
- Snake up the 306 steps to get to the famous Buddhist temple, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Clad in gold, this temple is the most holy and opulent Buddhist site in Thailand.
- Take in the vistas of Chiang Mai and the emerald green forests below.
- Enjoy a kantoke dinner, accompanied by traditional music and dancing, with your group tonight.
Day 6: Visit an elephant sanctuary + Wat Suan Dok Temple + optional home hosted dinner
We promised elephants, and today, you’re getting elephants. Spend the morning with these gentle giants in their natural habit before heading to the Wat Suan Dok temple and monastery. While you’re there, chat with a Buddhist monk—about your time with the gentle giants, the meaning of life, should you move to Thailand, etc. In the evening, grab dinner on your own or opt for an optional home-hosted Lanna dinner.
*For more information on Ultimate Break’s commitment to responsible tourism, please visit *this page.
- Learn about and observe Asian elephants close-up(ish) at an ethical, no-touch sanctuary.
- Visit the Wat Suan Dok Temple and learn how the “flower garden temple” got its name. Aside from being a stunning and sacred place, it has also been a center of Buddhist education for centuries.
- Ask the monk anything at an open forum and gain better insight into the Buddhist way.
Day 7: Fly to Phuket + free time
You’re headed to Phuket, where there’s an absurd number of white sand beaches, and palm trees, plus it’s the closest you’ll get to heaven on this planet—Phang Nga Bay. This protected bay is also home to James Bond Island, made famous after The Man with the Golden Gun was filmed here the 70s.
- Fly to Thailand’s largest island, Phuket.
- Explore the area and stick your toes in the sand of any of the 20+ beaches.
- Sip a tropical cocktail and start looking into the logistics of moving to Thailand.
Thai food: Seafood in Phuket is ICONIC, so you’d be missing out if you didn’t try some Tom Yam Goong or spicy shrimp soup, lobster, crab, or fresh oysters.
Beaches: Post up on the sand, grab a fruity drink, and slather on the SPF at some of the world’s best beaches, like Karon or Nai Han Beach, which are located on the island’s southern and west coasts.
Day 8: Free day in Phuket + optional Ao Phang Nga National Park by starlight
There’s more to Phuket than incredible beaches and views for days. This place is steeped in ancient history, rich culture, and endless nature. If you need a break from the roasting on the sand, check out some of the island’s museums and historic spots. Spend the day exploring on your own, or join an optional excursion to Ao Phang Nga National Park.
Big Buddha: And when we say big, we mean BIG—this Buddha comes in at 148 feet tall. Hike up from Karon Beach and catch your breath while enjoying sweeping ocean views.
Bangla Road: When the sun goes down, and the roads close to vehicle traffic, Bangla Road is the place to be. Loud music. Cheap beer. Neon lights. Basically, an outdoor club.
Day 9: Enjoy a free day in Phuket
Wake up! Or sleep in, because today you can do whatever. But you are in the land of some of the best beaches and seafood in Asia—maybe the world—so some combo of those two would equal a perfect day.
Bay views: Walk to Kho Sam Head, AKA “Hill of the Three Beaches,” for stunning views of three picturesque bays.
Muay Thai: Grab some friends and check out the Muay Thai scene, a fast-paced martial art that’s practically a religion in Thailand.
Day 10: Travel to Bangkok + Farewell Dinner
We’re taking you back to the beginning, where this whole adventure began: Bangkok.
In the evening, it’s time for your Farewell Dinner. Hosted by your Tour Director, this dinner is your chance to relive the best stories, the funniest inside jokes, and all the unforgettable moments you’ve shared with new friends.
Please note that depending on flight patterns, some travelers may depart on their return flights late this evening.
- Shake off any remaining sand—you’re headed back to Bangkok.
- Arrive in Bangkok, andBangkok and make the most of your last day in paradise.
- Make the most of your last day in Thailand! Visit more temples, markets, or street-food stalls and check off your final to-dos from your Thailand bucket list.
Day 11: Fly home
Goodbye, friends!
Your next destination awaits—home. But this isn’t goodbye. It’s “See you later.” The only question is, where?
