Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight flight
Pack your appetite for adventure (and tapas) and board your overnight flight to Spain. This is the time to rest up—more than a month of new countries, cultures, and cuisines await.
Day 2: Arrive in Barcelona + Welcome Dinner
Welcome to Barcelona, the Mediterranean capital of Catalonia (one of Spain’s 17 regions) and a city shaped by Romans, maritime traders, and avant-garde artists. Expect golden beaches, Gothic alleyways, and the unmistakable style of Gaudí, whose architecture screams whimsy.
In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner of local cuisine and drinks with fellow travelers at an authentic local spot. Afterwards, you’re free to take the party elsewhere!
- Arrive at the airport and meet your fellow travelers and your Tour Director.
- Drop your things at your accommodations and meet your Tour Director for a walking tour of the area, including the cobblestone alleyways of the Gothic Quarter.
- Stroll down Las Ramblas, Barcelona’s iconic pedestrian boulevard. Street performers, flower stalls, and cafes fill the street and La Boqueria, Barcelona’s most famous market, fills your belly.
Day 3: Tour Barcelona with a local
This morning, you’ll set out on a Barcelona tour for young travelers with your local guide, including the famous Park Güell. Overlooking the city, this early-1900s project was originally meant to be a luxury garden community—until Gaudí’s trippy designs showed up. Today, it’s a kaleidoscope of mosaics, curving benches, and gingerbread-house-looking structures, all set against views of the city and sea.
- Keep an eye out for Gaudí’s other works across the city, especially Casa Batlló and La Sagrada Familia, the world-famous basilica that has been under construction for more than 140 years—boomer.
- See Barcelona’s 1992 Olympic Park, perched along the Mediterranean Sea. Built for the Summer Olympics, the park transformed the city’s waterfront with iconic venues like the Palau Sant Jordi and Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. Today it’s a mix of sports history, stunning ocean views, and a reminder of Barcelona’s moment on the world stage.
- Listen for the sounds of both Spanish and Catalan—many Barcelonians are fluent in both. Spanish is spoken everywhere, while Catalan, the region’s historic language, often appears on menus, signs, and other public spaces.
Day 4: Free day in Barcelona or optional excursions
New neighborhoods, restaurants, and sights beckon on this free day to explore in Barcelona. But if you can’t decide what you’d like to do, we recommend heading for the coast and enjoying some time on the beach before finding the largest plate of paella you can get your hands on, or sign up for one (or both!) of the optional excursions.
Arc de Triomf: Built as the main entrance for the 1888 Barcelona World Fair, the intricate brickwork of this gate now leads to Ciutadella Park.
Castle Montjuïc: Gaze down on the Mediterranean from this old fortification that once guarded the harbor below and is named for the hill on which it sits.
Day 5: Travel to Paris
It’s time to board your train to Paris and transition from Mediterranean boho to French chic. Once you arrive, you’ll settle into your hotel and then head out for an evening Seine River cruise that gives you an instant, magical first look at the City of Light. Floating past illuminated cathedrals, bookshops, and historic bridges while the city sparkles is the kind of introduction that makes Paris feel instantly iconic and totally unforgettable.
- After checking into your hotel, meet your Tour Director for a walking orientation of nearby cafes, metro stops, and the best late-night pastry shops for emergencies. Knowing where the nearest boulangerie is will change your life here.

Seeing Paris from the water gives you the city’s scale and romance in a single, swooping view. The glow of the bridges and the reflection on the water sets the tone for the days ahead and is an instant “I’m really here” moment.
- Stand in awe under the Eiffel Tower as the lights sparkle in the night. Pro tip: this happens every hour on the hour.
Day 6: Tour Paris + optional excursion to Versailles

You’ll hear stories about revolutionaries and artists, taste the culinary DNA of the city, and feel why Paris is a must-do on any classic Europe itinerary.
In the afternoon join your group on an optional trip to Versailles if you want to trade boulevards for opulent palace rooms, manicured gardens, and French royal extravagance.

- Spend the afternoon exploring museum options, cafe culture, or sipping bubbles before choosing your evening vibe—dive into bistros for a long meal or find a club for a party only Paris can throw.
The Louvre: Once the home of French kings and now the largest art museum in the world, this astounding collection of art from around the world is not to be missed. From the Palace to the glass Pyramid to the Mona Lisa itself, you’ll be surrounded by history and beauty at every turn.
Moulin Rouge: The original version of this famed cabaret burned down in 1915, but the birthplace of the modern can-can dance lives on. Just look for the large red windmill on the roof, buy yourself a ticket, and then send your friends the pics to prove it.
Day 7: Free day in Paris + optional Disneyland Paris daytrip
Oui! A free day to wander the city of love. Get inspired, get lost, and get your fill of new foods like coq au vin (chicken braised with wine). This is the perfect day to shop for vintage designer clothes, picnic under the Eiffel Tower, or search for the love of your life who almost definitely lives in Paris.
Catacombs of Paris: Dare to step through the “Gate of Hell” on your way below the city streets and you’ll be greeted by walls of stacked skulls and bones of past Parisians. Once only considered a novelty, this absolutely eerie attraction is now designated as an official museum.
Montmartre cafes: Spend the afternoon cafe-hopping in Montmartre—lounge with an espresso, try a tartelette, and watch the city go by as you soak in the atmosphere. You’ve seen the pink cafe on IG, and now you get to experience it.

Pickpocketing can occur, especially in crowded areas or tourist hotspots. Keep your belongings secure and be cautious with strangers offering unsolicited help or deals.
Here are a few additional points:
- Health and Safety: Talking with your healthcare provider about any vaccinations or medication you may want to consider. Here are some additional tips for traveling with medication and traveling with allergies.
- International Data Plan: In the event you need to get in touch with your Tour Director or Ultimate Break while abroad, it’s important to invest in an international data plan. Call your cell phone provider to understand their plans or look into purchasing a sim card.
- Transportation Safety: When getting a taxi, make sure to agree on a price before getting in. At the end of a night out, use trusted transportation like a licensed taxi, Uber of Uber like service, and always have cash on hand.
- Nightlife: As with anywhere in the world, watch your drink, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption.

This is your classic sightseeing tour. Think lots of walking and taking in all the sites. On these tours, be prepared to:
- Walk a minimum of 10k steps per day (more if you add excursions)
- Use public transportation
- Climb on and off a motor coach or vehicle unassisted
- Manage your own luggage (including carrying luggage upstairs if no elevator)
- Climb occasional stairs, hills and navigate various terrains (think cobblestones) to different sites
- Stand for periods of time during guided commentary and photo stops
For Essential Tours: Be able to climb a ladder for bunk beds (if applicable)
Excursions are available for purchase at a discounted rate prior to departure. Some excursions may be available for purchase while you are on tour directly through your mobile app but are subject to availability and will be more expensive.
We recommend purchasing excursions at least 3 days prior to your tour departure. Please note some excursions have advance booking deadlines. Check your tour itinerary for more information to ensure you don’t miss the deadline to add them.
When you travel with Ultimate Break, you’ll make a positive impact on the places you visit and the people and animals you meet along the way. That’s because our three core Responsible Travel commitments—protecting the environment, supporting local communities, and promoting animal welfare—are at the heart of every tour we offer.
