Why go?

Three words for the Baltics? UN. DER. RATED. There’s Tallinn, where fairytale medieval streets meet Soviet-era Brutalism. Then Riga, home to so many cafes and Art Nouveau buildings it’s known as “The Paris of the North.” And Vilnius, a city so bohemian that artists declared their own micro-country. Add sauna sessions, Helsinki side quests, and an absurd amount of coffee and cinnamon buns, and you’re in for one hidden gem of a trip.

What you'll get

  • 8 nights in handpicked, centrally located accommodations
  • Meals: 8 breakfasts & 2 dinners
  • Guides: Expert Tour Director & 3 insider city tours with local guides
  • Food tasting at Central Market in Riga
  • Entrance to Hill of the Crosses & Trakai Castle in Lithuania

Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Estonia

Buckle up and dream of Tallinn’s cobbled medieval streets, Riga’s Art Nouveau architecture, and Vilnius’ bohemian art scene. You’ll hit the ground running in the Baltics before you know it, so get some rest.

Day 2: Arrive in Tallinn

Welcome to Tallinn, where medieval magic meets modern cool. Get ready to climb Toompea Hill for views worth your phone’s storage space, explore the creative Telliskivi district, and refuel with freshly baked cinnamon buns or hearty Estonian comfort food. There’s no shortage of beautiful things to see in the Baltics, and you’re starting off in a gem.

Today’s included experiences
  • Land at the airport and meet up with your Tour Director or EF representative and other travelers in your group.
  • Transfer to your hotel to check into your room.
  • Head out to grab dinner on your own and check out the charming Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, only steps from your hotel.
Free time suggestions

Traditional Estonian cuisine: Try verivorst, a blood sausage served with sauerkraut, or mulgipuder, a hearty pork and potato porridge. Many Old Town restaurants serve these classics, and a plate of them is the best way to taste Estonian comfort food.

Craft beer: Tallinn has a strong craft beer scene, with breweries like Põhjala leading the way.

Sunset at Linnahall: Watch the sun go down over Tallinn Bay from the concrete steps of this giant, semi-abandoned Soviet-era venue, built for 1980 Moscow Olympic sailing events.

Ask your Tour Director

  • How to say simple phrases like “tere” (hello) and “aitäh” (thank you) in Estonian: Locals really appreciate the effort, and your Tour Director can teach you how to pronounce them so they land.
  • Where to find the best coffee and kringel: From Old Town cafes to the spots locals line up for, your Tour Director knows where to get a proper strong black coffee with a braided pastry.
  • Which Estonian comfort food to order: Verivorst (blood sausage) and mulgipuder (pork and potato porridge) are the classics, and your Tour Director can point you to the restaurants that do them best.
  • Where to catch the best views: From Toompea Hill to the Linnahall steps, your Tour Director can tell you where to be when the light hits Tallinn’s rooftops and the bay.
