Which trip type is right for you?

Essential: Room with 3+ other travelers in conveniently located hostels. For budget-conscious extroverts who love a group moment.

Plus: Room with just one other person in 3- or 4-star hotels. Perfect for people who value privacy and recharging in their own space.

Why go?

See a side of Italy that people dream about—the carb-y, cheesy, wine-tasting-in-Tuscany side. Start your day in a hot air balloon and end it at a Florentine trattoria. Savor sharp artisan cheese followed by the juiciest red vino. Eat your way through three Roman neighborhoods while getting the tea on local history. Smell the espresso. Feel the hilltop breeze. This 9-day Italy food tour is a feast for all the senses, but especially your taste buds.

Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight flight

Are you ready? Is your stomach ready? You’re in for a week of amazing food and wine, centuries of history, and culture richer than chocolate gelato (cioccolato, if you plan on ordering some of that in Florence)—but first, airplane dinner. Buon appetito, see you in Italy.

Day 2: Arrive in Florence + Welcome Dinner

Benvenuti a Firenze! As the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region and the birthplace of the Renaissance, Florence is the place to be if you’re into art, architecture, beautiful countryside, and classic Italian food. Emphasis on classic Italian food—that’s why you’re here, right? Iconic Florentine fare includes hearty dishes like steak (Tuscany is famous for it), ribollita and pappa al pomodoro soups, fluffy focaccia, and fresh pasta with wild boar, all rooted in Tuscan peasant traditions.

In the evening, enjoy your Welcome Dinner. Hosted by your Tour Director, this kickoff dinner is all about meeting your fellow travelers and easing into the rest of the trip ahead.

Today’s highlights
  • Arrive at the airport to meet your fellow travelers and your Tour Director.
  • Transfer to your centrally located accommodations and check in.
  • Head out into the Italian evening for the first group dinner of your trip.
Free time suggestions

Buchette del vino: Grab a quick spritz or glass of wine from one of the 400-year-old wine windows that originated as a contactless way to serve Florentines during the bubonic plague.

Piazzale Michaelangelo: For sweeping city views and ideal photo ops, this square is a must-do. There’s also a cafe and a bronze replica of the statue of David.

Firenze after dark: From nightclubs to wine bars on the Arno, Florence turns up when the sun goes down. The Santa Croce, San Ferdiano, and Santo Spirito areas are 10/10.

Ask your Tour Director
  • For their favorite wine window—and the fascinating history behind these quirky Florentine features.
  • Where to enjoy an aperitivo with a view—Florence’s rooftop bars are truly iconic.
  • About how and when to visit Florence's iconic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, nicknamed the Duomo.
  • The best restaurants to indulge in traditional Florentine cuisine.
  • About the perfect golden hour and sunset picnic spot in Florence.
  • How and when to visit the Uffizi Gallery without the crowds.
  • Tips for visiting Michelangelo’s David at the Accademia—what to know before you go
  • For some women-owned boutiques and beloved family-run restaurants in the heart of the city.
  • Where to find the best of the best vintage stores and photo booths in Florence.
