Itinerary

  • Day 1: Overnight flight

Board your overnight flight to Rome and get some rest. We’re not sleep experts, but we think we might know what a night spent dreaming about pasta, pizza, gelato, and espresso means.

  • Day 2: Arrive in Rome + Welcome Dinner

Welcome to Rome, a city that’s bursting at the seams with energy. Italy’s capital city is part big city, part ancient ruins, and always served with a side of spaghetti. For the next few days, it’s yours.

    Today's highlights:

    • Land at the airport and meet an EF representative.
    • Transfer to your accommodations, check in, and start to meet your fellow travelers.
    • Enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your group at an authentic local spot.
  • Day 3: Sightseeing in Rome + optional Roman food tour

Let’s start exploring this magnificent city. Travel back in time with your local guide and feel the history as you explore the ruins of an ancient civilization.

    Today's highlights:

    • Discover why Rome is one of the most legendary cities in Europe.
    • Visit the Colosseum, where gladiators battled, and be glad you live in the 21st century.
    • Experience the heart of ancient Rome at the Forum, once a hub of activity for the city.

    Free time suggestions

Pantheon: A former Roman temple dating back to 126 AD, the Pantheon is known for its iconic dome and oculus.

Trevi Fountain: Rumor has it, if you turn your back to the Trevi Fountain and toss a coin over your shoulder, it guarantees you’ll return to Rome.

    Roman food tour (extra cost)

Walk the streets of Rome with stops for pizza, pasta, and gelato along the way.

  • Day 4: Free day + included dinner

When in Rome…do whatever you want. Today is all yours to do, see, and eat whatever your heart desires. Oh btw, tonight you have an included dinner with your group—nom.

    Free time suggestions

Spanish Steps: These 135 steps link the Piazza di Spagna and the Trinità dei Monti church and are a great spot to chill with some gelato.

Villa Borghese: Connect with nature as you explore the gardens in one of the most beautiful parks in Rome.

  • Day 5: Vatican tour + free time

Make “OMG” work overtime as you tour awe-inspiring Vatican City with a local guide. After your tour, you’re free to explore the city more on your own. Ahem. You’re free to eat more pasta.

    Today's highlights:

    • See the spot that the Pope calls home as you tour the Vatican Museum.
    • Look up at the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and think, “how did Michelangelo do that?”
    • Enter St. Peter’s Basilica and view its façade from St. Peter’s Square.

    Free time suggestions

Castel Sant’Angelo: Once the tallest structure in Rome, this museum was originally built as a mausoleum for Roman Emperor Hadrian—in 135 AD.

Piazza Navona: Sit outside at one of the many restaurants and watch the world go by—this bustling square is one of the best spots to people watch in all of Rome.

  • Day 6: Free day + Farewell Dinner

Unfortunately, you can’t stay in the Eternal City forever—dang. Use your last day to continue exploring, then cap it off with an included Farewell Dinner with your group.

    Free time suggestions

Via Appia Antica: One of the OG roads of the Roman Empire (and first highways ever), the Appian Way starts at the Roman Forum and runs 365 miles east.

Testaccio: One of Rome’s most vibrant neighborhoods, Testaccio is home to a thriving nightlife scene, funky street art, and a ton of unique food.

  • Day 7: Fly home

    Arrivederci, amici!
Translation: goodbye, friends! Your next destination awaits—home. But this isn’t goodbye. It’s “See you later.” The only question is, where?

My Rome experience was amazing! This is my second book’d trip with EF Ultimate Break! It’s worth booking with this agency. This tour group included 33 of us! Even though there were so many compared to my last trip we all got along so QUICKLY. Everyone was so kind, there were no cliques, we all naturally talked and engaged with one another. Our tour guide, Da... See more

This was my first trip with EF or any sort of travel group. First of all, Rome was incredible. The views, history, food; all the above! Everyone I met with EF was wonderful. Made some life long friends and memories. Our tour guide Dario went above and beyond in every aspect and made us feel like family. Was a wonderful tour and would highly recommend!

Well organized but absolutely packed with activities! Let’s start with the organization. The hotel was directly in front of a main metro terminal. The staff were super helpful and kind, the rooms are clean and simple. Transportation was taken care of and we each got metro tickets for the trip. Our Tour Guide Flaminia did a great job making sure everything ... See more
