Itinerary

Day 1: Overnight flight

Buckle up for your overnight flight—next stop: Europe! Catch some zzz’s, dream of gondolas, castles, and snowy Alps, and wake up ready to dive into four bucket-list countries.

Day 2: Arrive in Venice + Welcome Dinner

Benvenuti a Venezia! The Floating City is a masterpiece of sparkling canals, over 400 bridges, and centuries-old history—we’re talking over 1,600 years. Get ready to glide down the Grand Canal in a gondola (an iconic experience you have to do at least once), get lost in the maze-like streets, and admire the grand palaces that seem to rise right out of the water.

In the evening, enjoy your Welcome Dinner! Hosted by your Tour Director, this kickoff dinner is all about meeting your fellow travelers and easing into the rest of the trip ahead.

Today’s highlights
  • Arrive at the airport to meet your fellow travelers and your Tour Director.
  • Venture into Venice proper or see the area surrounding your accommodation.
  • Head to the classic spots like St Mark’s Square, or the Rialto bridge in the evening for no crowds, just magic.
  • Get to know your group at an included Welcome Dinner of authentic cuisine at a local restaurant.
Free time suggestions
Ask Your Tour Director
  • For the perfect time and spot to ride a gondola.
  • If you can row the gondola. It's possible, thanks to our special partnership with Row Venice (see FAQ).
  • About the local pastime of andar per bacari: Aka going from bacaro to bacaro (wine bar) to sip inexpensive local wines and prosecco and trying cicchetti—Venetian tapas.
  • How to beat the lines and see inside St Mark’s basilica to look at 900 years of Venetian art and history.
  • To visit to colorful Burano for a picture-perfect afternoon and lunch (extra cost)
  • When to hit the local markets: The most famous, the Rialto Mercato, is right on the Grand Canal and is open six days per week.
  • When to go to the Libreria Acqua Alta bookstore: This world-famous bookstore is just a few minutes' walk from St Mark’s square and is beloved as a unique, chaotic spot in the heart of Venice.
  • How to get to the best viewpoints: To see the city from high up, head to St. Mark's Campanile or the Fondaco dei Tedeschi rooftop terrace for views of the Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge, and the Ponte dell'Accademia for a famous perspective of the Grand Canal. At street level, the Rialto Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs are iconic.
  • Where to buy locally made souvenirs that support the community and local producers, like Murano glass, Burano lace, and journals or stationery.
