Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Santo Domingo

Board your flight to Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic. You’ve got over a week of kicking back (with a side of adventure) ahead of you. Your regular routine is about to feel a million miles away.

Today’s highlights
  • Arrive at the airport to meet your Tour Director and fellow travelers as they arrive.
  • Transfer to your hotel to check into your accommodations.

Day 2: Tour Santo Domingo + Welcome Dinner

The DR’s capital city is one part Caribbean paradise, one part bustling urban hub. It’s the kind of place where you can start your day wandering cobblestone streets older than most countries, then end it dancing to bachata at 2am with a rum drink in hand. Santo Domingo hits that sweet spot between culture and “can we get another round of Mama Juanas?”

In the evening, enjoy your Welcome Dinner! Hosted by your Tour Director, this kickoff dinner is all about getting to know the others in your group and easing into the rest of the trip ahead.

Today’s highlights
  • Join your Tour Director on a tour of Santo Domingo.
  • Wander through the Colonial Zone—founded in 1498, the oldest European settlement in the Western Hemisphere (and also the spot that turns up when the sun goes down).
  • Open your third eye at Los Tres Ojos, an expansive cave with three lakes and plenty of stalactites and stalagmites for all you cave nerds.
  • Head out into the warm Caribbean night for a Welcome Dinner with your group at an authentic local spot.
Free time suggestions

Mama Juana: Try the national cocktail of the DR, an intense mix of rum, red wine, and honey

Nightlife: Santo Domingo after dark is diverse and lively, where you can dance the merengue at a packed club or chill at a little cocktail bar. Nightlife here kicks off late, like 10-11pm, and can go into the early morning hours.
